The P-90's are Here!6/2/2009Suspect announces the addition of two P-90 pickup equipped Gibsons to its armada of electric guitars. The P-90 pickup generates a "bluesier" kind of a tone than the conventional Gibson humbucker, more along the lines of what you would hear late at night in a smoke filled blues club. In order to expand its palette to include this unique flavor, the studio has added a 1965 Gibson SG Junior and a 2004 Custom Shop Les Paul Special. The SG keeps it simple with a bridge mounted P-90 and single tone and volume controls. It's all about the tone control on this guitar. Although it's a '65, the guitar has been refinished, so it's a "player", not a "collector". Anyone who wonders how wood contributes to the sound of a guitar should listen to what a 40 year old piece of aged mahogany does for this baby. The Les Paul Special is equipped with dual P-90s and the dual volume and tone controls and pickup selector switch familiar to Les Paul owners. The body design is the dual cutaway shape rather than the conventional Les Paul silhoutte. This guitar features a wide range of tonal options along with the Custom Shop build quality and compliments the SG Junior nicely. These guitars, along with the the studio collection of four Les Pauls, two Strats, and three Tele's are all available to guitar playing clients. +++ back || view all +++ | |
